In the 1900- 1920 it was visual instruction

1920-1940's audiovisual instruction.

1950's instructional media.

1960-1970 Definition  

They began to look at IT as a process, that included planning, production, selection, utilization, and management and could be taught as a science for instructional practices. They began to look at it as a problem needing a solution, therefore a systematic instructional design process emphasizing learning.

Educational technology is introduces as a systemic, complex and integrated process. It involved in all aspects of human learning and analyzes problems , devises, implements,  evaluates, and manages solutions related to educational problems.

Instructional Technology in the 1990's began to be known as a theory, a process and practice of design, involving the  development, utilization, management, and evaluation its processes and resources for learning.

The 2008 AETC definition included ethical practices, emphasized  learning and performance by using technological processes and resources
